Shazahn Padamsee

She has tried her hands at many things, from theatre to writing, events, modelling and Bollywood. But whatever she does, she does it with style. Shazahn Padamsee’s individualistic fashion sense leaves Vandana Rana curious for more.
Daughter of ad-man Alyque Padamsee and former singer Sharon Prabhakar, Shazahn Padamsee has appeared in and produced several stage performances, worked with various event companies, wrote scripts and worked as a model too. She believes that after trying out so many things, acting was her natural next step and it comes to her naturally. She knocked at the box office with Yash Raj Production’s Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and was recently seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. She tells ATELIER about her fashion statements and her illustrious family.
Describe your personal style sense.
I would describe my style sense in two words: Young and edgy. I usually dress according to the occasion, but at the same time, casual and comfortable is my style. I love floral patterns and bright colours that reflect my ebullient personality. And skinny denim is my all-time favourite.
You are a daughter of acclaimed parents; how did it help you to shape your values and career?
My parents taught me to respect my work and be honest to it. They always supported me in my every decision. They guided me but never forced me to do what I didn’t want to. They helped me to mould my personality and values. Through them, I dabbled in lots of things, such as events, writing and theatre. And, that is how acting came to me.
What does luxury mean to you?
My house and my BMW car! I have two personal rooms in my house and I love spending time there. The balcony is my favourite place. Second is my BMW, which I bought on my own. I feel spoiled when I drive this luxury sedan.
What are your favourite luxury brands?
I like Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo for elegant bags and shoes, Tiffany for precious diamonds and J. Brand and Paige for skinny denim.
What is the most expensive possession you have bought?
LCD with Surround Sound System (HD technology).
Do you only add brands in to your wardrobe or you pick some welldesigned products as well irrespective of brands?
I don’t like dressing in labels from head to toe. I believe in mixing high-end brands with well-designed products. For instance, if I am wearing vest with skinny denim, then I would like to carry a designer bag.
Shazahn Padamsee as an actor…
As an actor I get in touch with my inner self to bring out the character. It is a great experience to find your anima. I find my spirit and just let it be. There are lots of emotions attached.
What are your favourite Indian and international fashion brands and why?
From Indian brands I like Nandita Mehtani and Manish Arora for their unique approach and great sense of style. I also like distinctive designs from Manish Malhotra. Amongst international designers, I love Roberto Cavalli, Versace and Chloe for their graceful designs.
Name one fashion trend that you absolutely love…
I love high-wasted skirts and denims; they look smart and elegant. I find the style perfect to flaunt my feminine side.
If you had to create one fashion trend, what would it be?
I would create wrap-around skirts with leggings – it looks classy.
Who is your style icon?
Audrey Hepburn for her simple yet bold appeal; her style is still alive and popular amongst today’s women. She is known for her clean lines and minimalist palette.
